Medical Direction for LTC/SNF
Dr.Song's Roles and Tasks as Medical Director
- provide consultation or reviewed medical and patient care policies and procedures concerning patient admission and discharge, medical records, responsibilities of attending physicians, supportive and preventive service.
- review patient care policies to assure they are properly executed in a timely manner by the professional staff of the facility
- coordinate availability of appropriate consultant physicians including but not limited to, dentists, podiatrists, oncologist, geriatrics, as well as para-health professionals
- review physician compliance with the rules and regulations contained in the professional staff by-laws.
- supervise the medical care for the facility patients to assure that orders are written promptly upon admission and are maintained in a current manner and are periodically reviewed.
- evaluate recommendations of the facility's committees and assist the administrator to implement their recommendations.
- participate in in-service educational programs and is a member of the pharmaceutical patient care policy, quality assurance, and infection control committees
- meet with the administrator of the facility to report on the activities and findings in connection with his status as a medical director.
- assist in preparation of survey by all accreditation, license, and certification agencies.
- review federal, state and local inspection reports and participate in plans or corrective actions that are required
- review all incident and accident reports, making recommendations as needed
- provide urgent/emergency services when patient's attending physician is not available and document in the clinical record and services, findings, and treatments that are provided.
